Reflect career requirements and shape an inclusive science with us at the WE ARE SCIENCE event!

At the event we formulated concrete steps towards an inclusive science. Stakeholders such as early stage and established researchers, advanced researchers, managers of science and representatives of funding institutions engaged in an open dialogue. Together we discussed and exchanged advice on career planning inside or outside of academia, the European funding landscape, and the role of inclusion, gender, equality, and diversity in science shaping the future of the European Research Area (ERA).

The Satellite event
reflected experiences and recommendations for EDI in science projects by engaging in an open dialogue that involveed ESR as well as various stakeholders and their viewpoints on

  1. A realistic picture of the future, experiences, and advice on how to enhance one’s career inside or outside of academia for ESR
  2. Insights into potential initiatives for ensuring high quality research in European funded projects by counteracting biases and enhancing EDI
  3. Feedback on what works and how incentives and metrics for European funded projects can be improved to impact scientific culture, to create motivated, secure and inclusive environments, and to ensure that culture values are considered.
  4. Conclusions what stakeholders can do in their area of responsibility for the future of EDI in science, with a specific focus on ESR
