HBP National Hubs for Innovation

HBP is striving to strength the role of industry in the project by offering companies a set of incentives to be closer to the HBP development and results. One of the elements for strengthening the interaction between HBP and industry is the creation of National Hubs for Innovation (NHI).

NHIs are structured national networks where HBP members or representatives regularly interact with interested industries, associations, hospitals and other relevant stakeholders to exchange information, provide information on EBRAINS and to know industrial demands.

Some specific objectives of the NHIs are:

  • To disseminate within the NHI members relevant and timely information of HBP knowledge and technologies with potential industrial interest, thus facilitating the eventual exploitation of some HBP results.
  • To facilitate members an early access to the HBP platforms with the objective of testing the applicability of their embedded tools to industrial settings and for specific application domains.
  • To identify scientific and technological areas with potential industrial interest at national level. This will facilitate the launching of specific partnering projects with the participation of industry and establishing mechanisms to increase private and public funding with the support of public administrations.
  • To identify possible innovation projects, e.g. industrial proofs of concepts to move HBP results to higher TRLs, linked to HBP goals with the participation of some project partners and members of the NIHs.

So far, two NHI have been launched, one in Spain and one in Belgium, which will be followed by Switzerland and other European countries.
