Human Brain Project's Yannis Ioannidis in the running for ACM President

    Yannis Ioannidis of the Human Brain Project is one of two candidates for President of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM.) The successful candidate will serve as President from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024.

    The ACM is a global scientific and educational organization dedicated to advancing the art, science, engineering, and application of computing, serving both professional and public interests by fostering the open exchange of information and by promoting the highest professional and ethical standards.

    "If honored to be elected as President, I will use my experience from earlier volunteer positions to help ACM strengthen its leadership role, keep its finger on the pulse of the evolving needs of the computing community, and expand its extensive services to benefit all computing researchers, industry professionals, educators, and students around the world" said Professor Ioannidis in his Candidate Statement.

    Yannis Ioannidis is Professor of Informatics & Telecommunications at the University of Athens. He is also the Leader of the 'EBRAINS Modelling Services' Work Package in the Human Brain Project. The Work Package develops and maintains the overall scientific software architecture for many of the applications. It handles on one hand the implementation of modelling services for simulation and robotics, and on the other hand it delivers the necessary e-Infrastructure for operating the service categories of the project on the computing infrastructure allocated to them.
