As the Partnering Project Scheme comes to an official end in 2023, the HBP stopped accepting new Partnering Project applications on 1 May 2022.

What are the advantages  of becoming an HBP Partnering Project? 

Possible benefits of Partnering Projects and their Associated Members are: 

  • Access to the Research Infrastructure and ability to contribute to its development  
  • Contribution to the effort of addressing one of the grand challenges of the 21st century 
  • Insight on the HBP methodologies, research roadmaps, and discoveries 
  • Visibility - by showcasing results on HBP and EBRAINS’ websites and social media channels 
  • Direct exchange of insights and ideas with the broad HBP Consortium through access to a strong, large, European and international network 
  • Participation in the HBP workshops, conferences, meetings, and annual summit, that enhance the profile and open possibilities of future collaborations  
  • Contribution to the evolution of the research roadmap of the Flagship 
  • Possibility to influence research topics called by Member States, e.g. transnational calls 
  • Recognition - by having projects mentioned in HBP’s deliverable reports to the European Commission

 

Eligibility 

The eligibility criteria to become a Partnering Project are the following: 

1. The projects and their partners already have their own funding or can demonstrate that they will have it in the near future. 
2. The projects make a significant contribution to the Flagship's strategic research roadmap. 

 

 Application procedure 

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and there is no submission deadline. The application procedure is as follows: 

1. The Coordinator of the Partnering Project (PP) fills in   this document (doc) and submits it to: partnering@humanbrainproject.eu
2. Assessment of scientific links with the HBP 
3. Scientific assessment by HBP Scientific Leaders 
4. Formal approval/rejection by the Science and Infrastructure Board (SIB) 
5. Signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  

Note: If your institution is not a  HBP Core Project Member it will become an Associated Member by signing Confidentiality Terms and Conditions. 

 

Selection criteria for the scientific assessment 

Candidate Partnering Projetcs are selected based on their level of complementarity and added expertise with respect to the existing competencies and future needs of the HBP Flagship. 

The criteria that should be met for the scientific assessment are: 

  • Relevance of the scientific and technological objectives to the HBP Flagship work plan and roadmap. 
  • Complementarity and added value in terms of scientific, technological or innovation expertise and know-how. 
  • Potential contribution to the HBP ICT platforms 
  • Ease of integration of the proposed activities within the HBP Flagship 
  • Potential for spreading excellence and widening participation across Europe and internationally
