There are 9 Work Packages in the HBP; three Science Work Packages, three Infrastructure Work Packages, and three Overarching Activity Work Packages.
The Service Categories rely on tools and workflows delivered by the Work Packages. All Service Categories build on infrastructure services from Work Package 5 and Work Package 6 and support for openness measures from Work Package 4.
There are 12 Subprojects in the HBPs that span the development of six ICT-based Platforms, as well as data gathering, cognitive and theoretical neuroscience, ethics, and administrative services.
Co-design projects are multi-disciplinary and cross Subprojects. They are led by senior scientists from the HBP and are designed around collaboration, data gathering and simulation between the HBP’s Platforms.
Partnering Projects create synergies between the core HBP and activities receiving funding at regional, national or transnational level. The projects and their partners already have their own funding and join with the HBP to together make a new and significant contribution to the HBP’s strategic research roadmap.
The HBP is trying bridge the scales of brain research from the level of the synapses and genes to the whole brain and human behaviour.
