The Human Brain Project aims to put in place a cutting-edge research infrastructure that will allow scientific and industrial researchers to advance our knowledge in the fields of neuroscience, computing, and brain-related medicine.
HBP particularly focuses on the medical field, defining biological signatures of diseases and developing infrastructure, tools and knowledge around the brain related diseases.
One of the infrastructure is the Medical Informatics Platform, which acts as a bridge between researchers, epidemiologists and clinicians.
The link between research and Medicine is not always easy to establish, on the one hand, clinicians don't always get access to the outcomes of brain-science research. On the other hand, researchers don't always have access to clinical grade data, really close from reality. The Medical Informatics Platform aims at creating this bridge between those two related fields to improve our knowledge of the brain but most of all, to reach significant improvements in terms of diagnoses, personnalised medicine and treatments.
